Photo Prompt: Theopneustos or Meraki?

Where does it come from,
the drive for creativity?
Sometimes it seems as though
ideas are floating
in the ether,
just waiting for
an author
an artist
a sculptor
to reach out and pluck them
from obscurity
to bring them front and centre
and shine a spotlight
on their brilliance.
Sculptors talk of ‘freeing’
their sculptures
from a marble prison.
Writers, of stories waiting
to be told,
characters who talk to them,
demanding to be heard.
So where are they, before they
hit the page,
the canvas,
the stone?
Is there a rescue centre
ruled over by
The Muses,
where ideas wait
to be adopted
by a creative
who will give them a loving home,
agency,
a voice
an audience?
Or is it something found
deep within humans,
a need for the world to be other
than it is?
More beautiful,
More ordered,
More inspiring?
What drives us to create
something beyond ourselves?
To make the ordinary,
extraordinary?
